Los Angeles Police Museum

The Los Angeles Police Museum occupies the former Highland Park Police Station and traces the LAPD from its 19th-century beginnings through better-known moments in the city's modern history. Exhibits include vehicles, uniforms, weapons, photographs, and material from major cases.

It is a niche museum, but a useful one if you are interested in Los Angeles beyond film studios and beaches. The building itself adds to the visit, since the old station gives the collection a setting with real local history.
