The Pacific Design Center is hard to miss: three enormous buildings sheathed in cobalt blue, green, and red glass, all designed by Cesar Pelli — the Blue Building (1975), nicknamed the Blue Whale; the Green Building (1988); and the Red Building (2013). The complex holds more than a hundred interior-design and furnishing showrooms, most trade-oriented but several open to the public.
It anchors West Hollywood's Avenues of Art and Design, a cluster of galleries and showrooms along Melrose Avenue and Beverly Boulevard. The MOCA satellite gallery and a public plaza make it worth a look even if you are not shopping for a sofa.
