Walk of Western Stars

The Walk of Western Stars lines the sidewalks of Old Town Newhall along Main Street, with bronze plaques embedded in the pavement honoring the men and women who made the Western film genre. The honorees range from silent-era legends like William S. Hart and Tom Mix to John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and the stunt performers who did the real riding and fighting on their behalf.

The walk is entirely free and easy to explore on foot. It makes a natural pairing with the William S. Hart Museum up the hill. Old Town Newhall around the walk has some good local restaurants and a couple of craft beer bars if you want to make an afternoon of it.

A story
Unlike Hollywood's Walk of Fame, the Walk of Western Stars was conceived specifically to honor the actors, directors, and stunt performers who defined the Western genre — people often overlooked by mainstream fame. The embedded plaques span from silent-film pioneers like William S. Hart himself to contemporary figures, tracing nearly a century of cowboy cinema along a few blocks of Main Street.
