Rohner Park is Fortuna's main green space — a sprawling, second-growth redwood and meadow park on the south side of town, named for the Swiss-born brothers who founded what would become Fortuna in the 1870s. The redwood grove is small but tall enough that on a summer afternoon you can lose the heat under it within minutes of arriving.
The park is also the home of the rodeo grounds, the Depot Museum, a disc golf course, a playground, and the Fireman's Pavilion that hosts community dances. It is the social centre of Fortuna in good weather, and a sensible base if you arrive in town without a plan: take a walk, look at the trees, and you have done a Fortuna afternoon well.
