South Coast Repertory

South Coast Repertory is one of the most respected regional theatres in the United States — a company with a serious commitment to developing new American plays, not just staging established classics. Founded in 1964 by David Emmes and Martin Benson, it has been at its current location next to the Segerstrom Center since 1978.

The company runs two theatres: the larger Segerstrom Stage and the intimate Julianne Argyros Stage. The season typically runs October through June, with six to eight productions per year across both stages. If there is a show worth catching during your visit, the ticket prices are considerably lower than equivalent theatre in New York.
