The Embarcadero

San Diego's harbour walk — a 3-mile waterfront promenade connecting the Maritime Museum, USS Midway, and the Convention Center

The Embarcadero is the waterfront promenade running along the bay from the Maritime Museum at the north end to Seaport Village and the Convention Center at the south — about three miles of continuous public waterfront with unobstructed views of the harbour, the naval station on North Island, and the Coronado Bridge.

The promenade is mostly flat and paved, running along a strip of parkland and marina between the water and the downtown streets. Aircraft carriers, destroyers, and supply ships from the adjacent naval base are visible from the walk; the Coronado Bridge frames the southern end. Harbour cruise boats depart from the Broadway Pier; the Coronado Ferry leaves from the same dock.

The Unconditional Surrender statue, the USS Midway, and the Maritime Museum are all on the Embarcadero. The two-mile stretch between the Maritime Museum and Seaport Village can be walked comfortably in 45 minutes without stops. The waterfront is public along its entire length; there are benches, grassy areas, and a continuous view of the bay.
