☰San Diego Zoo

One of the largest and most respected zoos in the world. Around 4,000 animals representing more than 600 species, on 100 acres in Balboa Park. The zoo pioneered open, naturalistic enclosures and is heavily involved in conservation work — it was the first to successfully breed giant pandas outside China. Plan a full day; the terrain is hilly, so use the bus tour and aerial tram to cover ground.
