Historic Downtown

Compact downtown with intact late-19th-century brick architecture

Red Bluff has one of the better-preserved 19th-century downtowns in the northern Sacramento Valley, with several blocks of two- and three-storey brick commercial buildings dating from the 1880s and 1890s. Main Street, Walnut Street, and Pine Street between Antelope Boulevard and the river all repay a walk.

The State Theatre on Oak Street is a 1908 vaudeville house still in occasional use; the Cone & Kimball Plaza clock tower at the corner of Main and Walnut is a 2008 reconstruction of an 1885 landmark lost to fire. Several antique shops and a brewery occupy the old buildings, and the Saturday farmers' market runs along the river park in summer.
