A short drive (or roughly an hour's walk uphill) from Central City brings you to Nevadaville, an abandoned mining camp in a high gulch. Most of the wooden buildings have collapsed back into the meadow, but a handful of brick and stone structures still stand — the Masonic hall, the firehouse, several house ruins — scattered along a single dirt road.
There is no visitor centre and no admission; the site is simply there. It rewards a slow wander on a clear day, ideally with a basic understanding of what you're seeing (a printed self-guided tour is available from Central City). The road becomes rough after wet weather, but is passable in a regular car most of the year.
