A handsome Carpenter Gothic church from 1874, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is a good example of the delicate wooden Gothic Revival style popular in rural America during the late 19th century — pointed arched windows, steep gabled roof, and decorative woodwork that required considerable skill given the remoteness of its location.
The church is still active and the interior is original. Worth a look as you walk Fairplay's streets, particularly for the architectural contrast with the rough-and-ready mining town buildings nearby.
