Walsenburg Mining Museum

The Walsenburg Mining Museum occupies the old 1896 Huerfano County jail behind the courthouse. That setting matters: Walsenburg was a coal town, and the museum keeps the camps, unions, disasters, tools, and family stories close to the cells and stonework of county power.

It is a small local museum, not a polished national one, but it gives the town context. Without it, Main Street can look like just another faded highway stop; with it, the old buildings start to make sense.
