The Big Dry Creek Trail is Westminster's main multi-use trail, running along the creek corridor for roughly 10 miles through the city and connecting into the broader regional trail network. It is paved, well-maintained, and wide enough to handle the mix of cyclists, joggers, and dog-walkers that use it throughout the week. The trail passes through riparian habitat that delivers a surprising amount of wildlife watching given how thoroughly suburban the surroundings are — great blue herons, red foxes, and deer are regularly spotted along the creek corridor.
The trail connects into the Farmers High Line Canal Trail, which heads south toward Denver, giving committed cyclists a genuine urban trail network to explore. Access points are scattered across the city, but the trailhead near the Butterfly Pavilion is particularly convenient. A morning run or ride along Big Dry Creek is genuinely pleasant in the cooler months, with views of the Front Range mountains to the west.
