West Hartford Reservoir is a large wooded preserve west of Hartford, with paved roads for walking, running, and cycling, plus quieter trails through the forest. It works best as an easy half-day escape from the city rather than a quick photo stop.
The area is useful in several seasons: picnic groves in warm weather, wooded walks in autumn, and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing when there is enough snow.
