Waterbury City Hall is the centerpiece of the Cass Gilbert Historic District, a handsome Georgian Revival municipal building from the city's brass-era high point. Gilbert, better known for the Woolworth Building and the United States Supreme Court Building, gave Waterbury a civic ensemble that still feels grander than the city around it.
Look at the building as part of the whole Grand Street group, not as a single photo stop. The district is one of downtown Waterbury's strongest arguments for slowing down.
