Bethany Beach's boardwalk is half a mile long and twelve feet wide — deliberately modest compared to the sprawling boardwalks at Ocean City and Wildwood. There are no carnival rides, no arcades, no deep-fried everything. What there is: a bandstand that hosts free summer concerts on Thursday and Saturday evenings, a handful of shops and snack stands, and clean access to a wide, calm beach.
The boardwalk embodies what the town calls its "Quiet Resort" identity. Families with young children dominate in summer; the crowds thin pleasantly by September. Early morning walks before the beach fills up, or evening strolls after the concert ends, are the best times to appreciate what Bethany has that its noisier neighbours don't.
