Silver Lake Park

Silver Lake is a small lake and public park in the northern part of Dover, connected to the St Jones River. The park surrounding the lake has walking paths, picnic areas, and good birding — the wetland edges attract herons, egrets, and a variety of waterfowl year-round. It is one of the most pleasant green spaces in the city and popular with joggers and families.

The lake was created by a dam on the St Jones River and has been a recreational area for Dover residents since the nineteenth century. The surrounding park is free and open year-round. It provides a contrast to Dover's historic built environment and is particularly worth visiting in the spring migration season when the wetland edges are busy with shorebirds.
