New Castle is about 7 miles south of Wilmington, Delaware, and roughly 35 miles southwest of Philadelphia. By car, take I-295 South to the Route 9 exit for New Castle; the historic district is then a short drive east. The town is also reachable via Route 9 along the river from Wilmington.
There is no direct rail service to New Castle. The nearest Amtrak station is Wilmington, from which you would need a taxi or rideshare. DART First State buses connect Wilmington to New Castle, though service is infrequent. Most visitors arrive by car. Philadelphia International Airport is the most convenient major airport, about 25 miles away; Wilmington Airport is closer but has far fewer flights.
