Long Key State Park gives the Middle Keys a quieter, more natural stop than the busy marinas and roadside attractions. The shoreline is shallow and calm, good for paddling, wading, birding, and watching the flats change colour with the tide.
The park has been damaged by hurricanes more than once, so facilities can change. Check current conditions before planning around camping or long hikes, but keep it on your list if you want a low-key nature break along US-1.
