Fort Pierce Inlet State Park protects a fine piece of North Hutchinson Island, with ocean beach on one side and inlet and lagoon waters nearby. Locals come for surfing, fishing, swimming, birding, and the simple pleasure of a less built-up beach.
It is the easiest way to see why Fort Pierce is more than a mainland downtown.
