Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek

Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek is an open-air living history museum on the northwestern edge of Kissimmee, preserving a collection of late 19th and early 20th century Florida frontier buildings. The village sits along Shingle Creek, which is considered the northernmost headwater of the Everglades drainage system — a fact that gives the surroundings more ecological weight than the strip malls a few miles south suggest.

Relocated historic structures include a one-room schoolhouse, a Cracker-era farmhouse, a cattle barn, and a turpentine still. Demonstrations of frontier crafts and farming practices run on weekends. It is a quiet and slightly overlooked site that shows what Central Florida looked like before anyone imagined building a theme park here. The Osceola County History displays are also housed on-site.
