Osceola County Courthouse

The Osceola County Courthouse is a handsome red brick building in Kissimmee's small historic downtown, dating from 1890. It sits at the intersection of US-17/92 and US-192, the two main arteries that once defined the town before the highway strip took over. The courthouse dome and clock tower are visible from several blocks away and give the downtown its only real vertical landmark.

The surrounding block has a handful of preserved late-Victorian commercial buildings that give a sense of what Kissimmee looked like before the theme park era. It's an easy walk from the lakefront and takes about 20 minutes to see properly.

A story
The courthouse was built in 1890 and has been in continuous use ever since, making it the oldest courthouse in Florida still serving its original function. It survived a fire that gutted much of downtown Kissimmee in 1910 and has been carefully restored several times since.
