SUMICA

SUMICA is a large conservation tract east of Lake Wales, with pine flatwoods, marsh, and trails laid partly along an old railroad grade. The main hiking route runs above the surrounding wetland, with little shade and a quiet central Florida feel.

It is a low-key nature stop rather than a polished attraction. Bring water, sun protection, and shoes that can handle sandy or damp ground.
