The main reason anyone comes to Lake Wales is Bok Tower Gardens, but once you have seen the tower and walked the estate, the town and its surroundings offer a few other pleasures. Spook Hill is the obligatory roadside curiosity. The historic downtown has a couple of handsome early-20th-century buildings worth a wander, and Lake Kissimmee State Park is an easy drive away for those wanting some proper Florida wilderness.
