Getting There

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is one of the busiest airports in the United States and handles direct flights from most major US cities as well as transatlantic routes from the UK, Germany, and Canada. The airport sits south-east of downtown, roughly 30 minutes from International Drive and 45 minutes from Walt Disney World. Taxis, rideshare, and shuttle services run directly to the theme park resorts; a rental car is the better option if you plan to move around independently.

A second airport, Orlando Sanford International (SFB), is further north and mainly serves charter and budget European carriers including Allegiant. It is cheaper to reach for some travelers but adds significant drive time if you are staying on the tourist corridor.

By road, I-4 is the spine of the tourist zone, running south-west from downtown toward the Disney and Universal resorts. From the north, I-95 connects to the area via the Beachline Expressway; from the south, the Florida Turnpike runs directly into the resort district. Amtrak's Silver Star and Silver Meteor stop at the Orlando station downtown, though without a car the station puts you a long way from the parks.
