Bay County Courthouse

The Bay County Courthouse, built in 1915 of distinctive yellow brick with a deep classical cornice, is the most architecturally significant building downtown. It sits on East 4th Street a block off Harrison Avenue and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The interior is unremarkable working courtroom space, but the exterior is one of the few survivors of pre-Hurricane Michael downtown — a reminder of what Panama City looked like before the storm in 2018.

There is no formal tour, but the grounds are public and a five-minute look at the brickwork, the columned entrance, and the small WWII memorial on the lawn rounds out a wander through the historic core.
