Uncle Ernie's occupies a restored 19th-century building right on the marina at the foot of Harrison Avenue, with a long deck that hangs out over the water. The food is straightforward Gulf coast: blackened grouper sandwich, fried shrimp basket, oysters by the dozen, a respectable gumbo. The view across the bay at sunset, with charter boats coming in and pelicans diving for scraps, is the actual reason to come.
Service is unfussy and prices are reasonable for the location. The wait at peak times is real — book ahead if you can, or come for a late lunch when the deck is at its best. Live music most weekends.
