Winter (December through March) is Sarasota's peak season. Temperatures are warm and dry — typically 65-80°F — the cultural calendar is full, and the snowbirds arrive in force. It's the best time for the beach without Florida's summer heat and humidity, but prices are highest and reservations are required.
Summer (June through September) is hot, humid, and prone to daily afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures regularly hit 90°F with high humidity. The upside: hotel prices drop significantly, the beaches are less crowded, and the Gulf water is at its warmest. The Ringling and other indoor attractions are also less visited.
Spring (April through May) is the sweet spot — warm enough for the beach, before the summer heat and humidity set in, and with lighter crowds than winter.
