One of the four largest Holocaust museums in the United States, with a permanent collection that covers both the historical arc of the Holocaust and its specific impact on individual lives. The exhibits combine photographs, documents, artifacts, and survivor testimonies — the latter recorded in video installations that are among the most affecting parts of the museum. A replica railcar used in deportations is the centerpiece of the main hall.
The museum is earnest and substantial without being overwhelming. Plan on two hours; the material is heavy enough that rushing through it would be a disservice.
