Central Florida has two recognisable seasons: a warm, dry winter (October through April) and a hot, wet summer (May through September). For visiting Winter Haven, the dry season is clearly preferable. Temperatures from November to March sit in the mid-20s Celsius during the day and drop to comfortable sleeping temperatures at night. Humidity is low by Florida standards, and rain is infrequent.
Summer is manageable but uncomfortable. Daily afternoon thunderstorms roll in reliably from around 3pm, humidity is high, and temperatures regularly reach 34°C or more. Hurricane season runs from June through November, with the peak in August and September. Winter Haven is far enough inland to avoid direct coastal storm damage but can still experience high winds and flooding from major storms.
LEGOLAND is less crowded outside school holidays — if you are visiting with children and have flexibility, mid-week visits in January or February offer the best combination of weather and shorter queues. The lakefronts and trail are pleasant year-round but most enjoyable in the cooler months.
