Atlanta's wealthiest neighbourhood, roughly 6 miles north of downtown along Peachtree Street. Buckhead is upmarket shopping (Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza), upmarket restaurants, and the Governor's Mansion and Atlanta History Center on its leafier western edges.
The nightlife district along Buckhead's south end was the city's main bar zone until heavy enforcement in the 2000s pushed much of it to other neighbourhoods. The high-end restaurants remain, and the residential side streets are full of remarkable mid-century homes. Not where you go to feel the texture of the South — but the obvious base for upscale shopping or a corporate trip.
