McBryde Garden fills a green Lawai Valley just inland from the south shore. It is part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, with native Hawaiian plants, palms, flowering trees, and conservation collections that make more sense with time than with a quick glance.
Visits usually start from the Lawai visitor centre near Spouting Horn, where shuttles take guests into the valley. Garden people should make time for it; beach-only travellers may prefer the shorter stop at the blowhole.
