Built in 1892, the Morris Roberts Store is one of the oldest commercial buildings in the Snake River Canyon and sits directly on what was the Oregon Trail route, now followed by US-30. The building is a solid wood-frame structure typical of late-19th-century Idaho frontier commerce, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The store is a reminder that Hagerman was an established stop on the emigrant trail long before anyone knew about the fossil beds below the canyon rim. The building is not always open to visitors, but it is worth a pause on the walk through town.
