The Japanese Friendship Garden sits on a small rocky island in the Snake River, right in the heart of Idaho Falls. It was created to mark the city's sister-city relationship with Tokai-mura in Japan.
The garden is small, but it gives the river walk its most memorable pause: lanterns, plantings, bridges, and river noise in the middle of town. It is especially good in soft evening light, when the falls and downtown bridges feel close but not busy.
