About 24 miles north of Ketchum on Highway 75, Galena Lodge is the trailhead for an extensive cross-country ski network in winter and a mountain-biking and hiking base in summer. The lodge itself is a small log restaurant with a deck overlooking the Sawtooth foothills, run as a non-profit by the Blaine County Recreation District.
The food is simple — chili, sandwiches, soup, baked goods — but the setting, especially after a morning of skate skiing, is the point. Trail passes are sold at the desk. The drive up Highway 75 over Galena Summit is one of the most scenic in the state and worth doing for its own sake.
