Grand Targhee Resort

Snowy west-slope Teton resort known for powder skiing, summer biking, and huge mountain views.

Grand Targhee is the headline attraction for Driggs. In winter it is a powder-heavy ski area on the western slope of the Tetons, generally less glamorous and less frantic than Jackson Hole but deeply loved by skiers who care more about snow than scene.

Summer brings lift-served mountain biking, hiking, and scenic rides. Even if you do not ski or bike, the road up from Driggs is worth it on a clear day for the sense of how abruptly the Tetons rise from the valley.

A story
Grand Targhee's weather has a reputation because storms often drop snow on the west side of the Tetons while Jackson sees a different pattern over the pass. That geography is why powder seekers drive up from Driggs even when the rest of the valley looks calm.
