Getting Around

Peoria is fundamentally a car city. The compact downtown and riverfront area is walkable, and Grandview Drive is pleasant on foot or by bike, but reaching Wildlife Prairie Park, the outer suburbs, or most restaurants and attractions outside the downtown core requires a car. Rental cars are available at the airport.

CityLink operates bus service throughout the city, with routes covering most residential and commercial areas, but the frequency is low and the system is not well-suited to tourist itineraries. Ride-hailing services operate in Peoria and are practical for getting between downtown and specific destinations. The riverfront itself — the Peoria Riverfront Museum, the restaurants, the Spirit of Peoria boarding area — is a comfortable 20-minute walk end to end.
