Getting There

Bedford is most easily reached by car. It sits on US 50 about an hour and a half southwest of Indianapolis, and about an hour northwest of Louisville, Kentucky. State Road 37, the main north-south route through southern Indiana, also passes through the city and is now a four-lane highway most of the way to Indianapolis.

The nearest commercial airports are Indianapolis International (about 90 minutes by road) and Louisville International (about 70 minutes). There is no passenger rail service. Greyhound runs a limited bus service from Indianapolis, but a rental car is much more practical if you want to see the quarries, caves, and surrounding state parks.
