The Mueller-Schmidt House, often called the Home of Stone, is an 1881 limestone house with original furnishings and a small gallery on local pioneer women. It is the quieter counterweight to Dodge City's louder frontier attractions.
The house shows what permanence looked like in a town better known for gunfighters and cattle drives. Its domestic rooms, thick stone walls, and hilltop setting make the city feel less like a set piece and more like a place where families built lives.
