Green River Lake State Park protects a wooded stretch of shoreline on the 8,200-acre Green River Lake. It is the most substantial reason to detour to Campbellsville, especially if boating, fishing, picnics, or a short lakeside hike sound better than another town square.
The lake is broad and practical rather than wild. Rent a boat, walk a trail, or use it as a slower counterweight to the Lincoln and bourbon stops elsewhere in central Kentucky.
