Monroe Regional Airport (MLU) is served by American, Delta, and United with connections through their respective hubs. From New Orleans it's a 5-hour drive north on I-55 and US-165; from Shreveport about 1.5 hours east on I-20. There's no passenger train service to Monroe.
Greyhound runs through Monroe on the Houston–Atlanta corridor. Most visitors arrive by car — the city sprawls considerably and a car is useful for reaching the wildlife refuge and airport-area attractions.
