Patty's is one of the better-regarded local seafood spots in Morgan City, serving the Cajun standards in portions sized for the oil-field and shrimp-boat workers who make up much of the clientele. The boiled shrimp and crabs are the things to order — fresh from the Gulf, seasoned with cayenne and crab boil, served in paper-lined trays. The fried catfish and po-boy sandwiches are also reliable.
The decor is minimal, the service is fast, and the prices are reasonable. This is not fine dining by any definition; it is honest Cajun food in a working town that has been eating this way for a hundred years. If you want to understand what coastal Louisiana actually tastes like, away from the upscaled versions served in New Orleans, a meal here is instructive.
