The obvious day trip is Acadia National Park itself, which surrounds the town on three sides. Beyond that, the Schoodic Peninsula — the only part of Acadia on the mainland — is a quieter alternative, reachable by ferry from the town pier or by an hour's drive around Frenchman Bay. Cadillac Mountain, Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and the Park Loop Road are all within fifteen minutes by Island Explorer.
