Belgrade Lakes Golf Club

Mountain-top public course with sweeping views of the lakes

The Belgrade Lakes Golf Club sits on Snow Pond Hill east of the village, an 18-hole public course set high above the surrounding lake country. The hilltop layout means that almost every fairway has a long view across to Great Pond, Long Pond or Salmon Lake, with Mount Phillip and the other low Belgrade mountains rising behind. It is consistently rated among the best public courses in northern New England.

Greens fees are not cheap by Maine standards but considerably lower than at comparable destination courses. The clubhouse restaurant on the upper deck is open to non-golfers and is one of the better places in the area for a long lunch with a view. Book tee times well ahead in July and August.

A story
The course was designed by Clive Clark and opened in 1998 on a hilltop that had been an open pasture for a century. Golf Digest ranked it among the top ten new public courses in the United States in its first year.
