Day's Store

1960s general store and dock, the social hub of the village

Day's Store stands on the main street of Belgrade Lakes Village, right beside the channel between Great Pond and Long Pond, and is the working centre of the village in a way that the older Chandler Store no longer is. It sells groceries, bait, beer, ice, fishing tackle, and the basic hardware that the summer camps need; the dock out the back is a public mooring and a useful pick-up point for those arriving by boat.

The store has been here in some form since the 1960s and is on its third generation of family ownership. The lunch counter inside does excellent breakfast sandwiches and locally famous lobster rolls. In the evening, the dock benches are the village's de facto town hall.
