Sunday River is the mountain engine behind much of Bethel's visitor traffic. In winter it spreads skiing and snowboarding across nine peaks; outside ski season it switches to scenic lift rides, hiking, golf, mountain biking, paddling, and a busy event calendar.
It is in Newry rather than Bethel proper, but for travellers the two are tied together. Bethel is the village base; Sunday River is the mountain playground a short drive away.
