Getting There

Fryeburg is a car town. There is no public transit serving the area, and without a vehicle you cannot get to the river outfitters, the ski mountain, or most of the points of interest east of the village center.

By car from Portland, the drive takes about an hour and a half via Route 302 west. The road follows the Sebago Lake region through Bridgton before climbing into the Saco River valley -- it is a pleasant drive in any season. From Boston, plan on two and a half to three hours depending on traffic through southern New Hampshire.

From the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Fryeburg is immediately over the state line -- North Conway is about 20 minutes east on Route 302. Skiers and hikers based in the White Mountains often use Fryeburg as a side trip rather than a primary destination.

Eastern Slope Regional Airport (IZG) sits just south of the village and handles small private aircraft, but has no commercial service. The nearest commercial airport is Portland International Jetport (PWM), about 75 miles southeast.
