Sixty-eight acres of public park on the bluff at the east end of the peninsula, with the best free view in Portland — out across Casco Bay to the Calendar Islands. Locals walk dogs here at sunrise; in summer the lower lawns fill with picnicking families and the harbour fills with sailboats.
The Eastern Promenade Trail runs along the foot of the bluff at the water's edge for almost three kilometres, joining Back Cove to East End Beach and the Casco Bay ferry terminal. Walking, running, and cycling are all easy. A small free beach at the foot of the slope is good for a cold swim on a hot day.
