The National Museum of Civil War Medicine is Frederick's sharpest indoor stop. Its exhibits cover field hospitals, surgery, nursing, evacuation, embalming, and the hard lessons that changed American medicine during and after the war.
It is especially useful before visiting Antietam, Gettysburg, or Monocacy, because it gives the human cost of battle a practical shape. Allow about an hour, longer if you read every panel.
