The historic district takes in the original village that grew up around the Baltimore and Annapolis Railroad stop in the 1890s. About a hundred late-Victorian and early-20th-century houses survive — Queen Anne, American Foursquare, and Craftsman bungalows on tree-lined streets like Maple Road and Hammonds Ferry Road.
It is a low-key place to wander for an hour rather than a star sight. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
