The Mainstay is a converted feed store on Main Street that operates as a nonprofit listening room. It seats about 80 people, the sound is excellent, and the bookers have a knack for catching musicians on the way up or on quiet tours — folk, bluegrass, acoustic blues, jazz singers, and the occasional acoustic-instrument curiosity. Tickets are usually $20 to $30.
There is no bar; bring your own beer or wine in a covered glass. Shows happen most Saturday nights from autumn through spring and are often sold out for the better-known acts. Check the website before driving up.
